The science or art of cultivating fruits, vegetables, flowers, or ornamental plants is known as horticulture. With in agriculture it has an important role to play like production of fruits, vegetables, citrus, mangoes, dates and apples.
Papaya Cultivation
The importance of papaya in the world’s economy is demonstrated by its wide distribution and substantial production in tropical countries. It has long been known and cultivated in home gardens because it is one of the few fruits, which throughout the year, gives quick returns and adapts itself to diverse soil and climatic conditions. The fruit is cultivated for its nutritive value as it is an important and economical source of certain vitamins and minerals. Besides, it is highly prized for medicinal value.
Vegetable Gardening
The Vegetable Gardening Project is for the beginning gardener who may garden in a small space or may wish to explore growing a variety of the kinds of vegetables. Young people will learn the fundamentals of raising vegetables for home use.
In addition to the available for each project option there are two other resources that may prove helpful. Local Master Gardeners have a wealth of information to share and often are willing to work directly with youth. The Educational Materials Catalog published by the Extension Service lists numerous horticultural publications that provide information on a variety of gardening topics.
